Come Spread Your Wings!
By Kristan Bond
Ready to get your party on? Few cities in the country shine the way our City of Coconut Creek (named 48th BEST city to live in the country by Money Magazine) shines during the month of February! Come celebrate the City of Coconut Creek’s anniversary at one of the most fun-filled community events geared so the whole family can enjoy the event ALL day! The 10th Annual Butterfly Festival is scheduled for Saturday, February 25 from 1-8:30pm at Sabal Pines Park. The day is jam-packed full of excitement and activities, including children’s rides and games, live music, a Business Expo and giveaways. You can even experience butterfly kite flying! And come hungry because all your favorite carnival food and beverages will have you saying YUM! Then get cozy, look up in the sky as the day closes with a spectacular Zambelli Fireworks display. And, best of all, admission is FREE!
This year’s featured entertainment is Rockin’ the Paradise, the extreme Styx show. Comprised of five experienced and talented musicians, many who actually HAVE performed with Styx! Rockin’ the Paradise has traveled the United States extensively performing in front of audiences of up to 40,000 people to rave reviews. Now in their fourth year, the band is sure to get the audience on its feet rocking out all ages when they take the main stage at 6:30pm.
Leading up to the headline entertainment, festival-goers will enjoy the music of the Blues Brothers Soul Band, featuring Paul and Phillip Ferretti, and Replay, performing dance, pop and funk. Plus, the very popular City of Coconut Creek Police K-9 demonstrations will again wow the crowd.
Then take a stroll through the booths! Learn more about what this great community has to offer at the Business Expo, which features local businesses and organizations up close and personal. Many booths have giveaways, contests and all have great information to share.
Then sit back and prepare to be awed! Do the words, ooh and aah mean anything? The day’s festivities will be capped off by a spectacular fireworks display from the Zambelli Family. While it isn’t the fourth of July, in the sky it will be! This is fun for the whole family.
There will be NO public parking at Sable Pines Park. You can score a FREE ride with free shuttle service available from Monarch High School (5050 Wiles Rd.) and from the Recreation Complex at 4455 Sol Press Blvd. from 12:45-9:30pm. As always, look for the LIFE Publication’s booth! Stop by, “say hey and get your picture took” to be featured in a future issue of Coconut Creek Life Magazine! And don’t forget to stop by with the kiddies! We LOVE to feature the smiling faces of Creek’s tiniest residents!
